ISRA´s DECLARATION OF AIMS
ISRA: The Islamic Studies Research Association, to be known as ISRA hereafter, declares that ISRA is an international
organization thatbegan in the United States. It is a broad-basedand collaborative groupincluding Muslim men and women, elders and youth, of all backgrounds and perspectives. ISRA has members and supporters in a number of states and countries. The following are its aims and purposes:
1. ISRA believes in promoting Islam, a comprehensive deen (the program of Allah subhanahu wa tala for all creation)
comprised of Islam, Iman, and Ihsan.
2. ISRA supports the tradition of Tassawuf as a major statement of Islam, Iman and Ihsan.
3. ISRA aims to provide a balanced forum for the free statement of varied points of view on the legal and spiritual
traditions of Islam.
4. ISRA believes that the unity of Muslims is commanded by Allah subhanahu wa tala and that it can best be achieved
when the mutually reinforcing love and knowledge of Allah subhanahu wa tala permeates the hearts of the Muslims.
5. ISRA believes in promoting remembrance (dhikr/zikr) of Allah and Salat ala Nabi (Darood Shareef) as important ways
of developing the love of Allah subhanahu wa tala (Mahabbah) and His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, in the hearts of the Muslims.
6. ISRA intends to organize and encourage gatherings for the sharing of knowledge and love of Allah subhanahu wa tala and His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him and his family.
7. ISRA intends to promote the study, research, translation, publication and dissemination of information about Islam through print, electronic media, and other multimedia resources.
8. ISRA supports local and global co-operative efforts between Muslims of different perspectives and schools of thought
to work on the contemporary issues affecting the Ummah.
9. ISRA affirms the nobility of men and women as confirmed by the Quran and the Sunnah, by encouraging their equal
participation in all its activities, decision-making and leadership.
10. ISRA promotes a total spiritual and intellectual revival of the Muslim Ummah by focusing of Shariah, Tassawuf,
Muhabbah, Mašarifah and Haqiqah.
